LIBRARIES are more known for encouraging hushed tones than hosting concerts, but next month Crook Library will be breaking with tradition.

Singer Eileen Glenton will be making sure she is heard at Crook Library on Wednesday, May 15, when she performs A Taste of Music Hall, accompanied by George Hetherington on the piano.

The duo regularly perform in County Durham libraries and Eileen also appeared recently in Me and My Girl at Durham's Gala Theatre, and has been invited to perform at the Palace of Varieties Theatre, Leeds.

A spokeswoman said: "They have been popular in other libraries and they perform the type of music that brings people in. They thoroughly enjoy it."

The show starts at 7pm, with a £1 concession. Tickets are available from the library on (01388) 766504.
