A LOVING family with older children is needed to provide a new home for a cat which was taken in by the RSPCA as an injured stray.
Jake, an 18-month-old black and white domestic short-haired cat, would be better off in a home with no other animals.
Vanessa Robinson, of the RSPCA's Darlington branch, said: "He is a lovely cat. He is very affectionate, gives lots of cuddles and is just a really nice cat."
The branch this week appealed for help in raising vital funds to care for pets such as Jake.
Monthly vet bills alone cost £3,000. The charity is also faced with food bills plus other costs, and it has only three volunteers.
Since Monday's appeal, Mrs Robinson has already had calls from people offering to do fundraising.
The charity is also offering a cut-price microchipping service to enable dog and cat owners to be quickly reunited with lost pets. Anybody wanting to give Jake a home, help the charity or take up the microchipping offer, should call (01325) 377878
