RESIDENTS of a Richmond road are to be given a chance to have their say on how to control speeding traffic outside their homes.
North Yorkshire County Council's Richmondshire area committee agreed that consultation should take place with people in Quarry Road, which has become a rat-run for traffic bound for the nearby Gallowfields Industrial Estate.
Solutions suggested include bollards to block off access to the estate, a barrier operated by a smart card issued to the residents and the emergency services only, or speed humps.
A barrier won the most support from the residents who attended a meeting at the Middleham Key Centre.
However, the committee also supported the idea of an experimental bus service from other parts of Richmond to the trading estate, which would make access easier for workers and cut the amount of traffic heading for the area.
