JUBILEE MUGS: The golden jubilee committee has agreed to buy 180 mugs at about £2 each, to be presented to the children of the two villages of Great Broughton and Kirkby, and to any other child attending the village school. Kirkby parish council and the Aces organisation have agreed to contribute towards the costs.
LIGHTING DAMAGE: Confirmation has been received from North Yorkshire County Council that the damage caused to Backers' Walk by contractors installing new lighting columns will be repaired without delay. It was reported that the wooden handrail on the bridge at Backers' Walk, The Holme, had been damaged and pulled out of the ground. The county council will be asked to make repairs there, and will also be asked to remove the salt bins on The Holme over the summer months.
