THE new Durham Dales Primary Care Trust, responsible for front-line health care services in the area, has held its first meeting.
Members of the trust, launched on April 1 to replace the Dales Primary Care Group, met at the Optimum Centre, Bishop Auckland College.
Chief Executive Andrew Kenworthy said the trust's core role would be to improve community health, with support from other agencies.
Public meetings are being planned to share the trust's ideas with local people. The first will be held at the Masonic Hall, Victoria Avenue, Bishop Auckland, on Thursday, May 16, 7pm to 9pm.
Mr Kenworthy said: "The primary care trust believes it is important for local people to have the opportunity to find out about the proposals and have the chance to comment on them."
For a copy, or summary version, of Professor Ara Darzi's recommendations on hospital services, to be discussed by the trust, telephone Tina Young on 0191-333 3382.
