PLANS for a sandwich shop and coffee bar in Ferryhill are expected to be approved by councillors today.
The application is for a shop in empty premises in Parker Terrace.
Sedgefield Borough Council has received one letter of objection from a neighbour, saying the shop will create more traffic and litter.
But a report by planning officers to the council's development control committee meeting today rejects the fears.
It says: "Unlike a hot food takeaway, the proposed sandwich bar and coffee shop would be likely to attract mainly pedestrian customers visiting the town centre."
Officers have suggested restricting the cafe opening times to between 8am to 6pm, with no opening on Sundays or bank holidays, and to install a flue to extract cooking odours.
