ENERGETIC pupils and staff at a Darlington school are preparing to get on their bikes for charity.
Youngsters at Beaumont Hill School and Technology College are taking part in a sponsored coast-to-coast bike ride next month in aid of St Teresa's Hospice.
To promote the 180-mile ride, some of the pupils cycled from the school to the hospice in Woodlands Road.
Hospice director Jane Bradshaw said: "It is excellent news that the school is supporting St Teresa's Hospice in this way, and we hope that other organisations in the area will take up its shining example.
"I am sure that there will be lots of aching legs at the end of the ride, but they will be raising much-needed funds, which will go towards helping local people."
Anyone who would like to sponsor the pupils can contact Sue Harston on (01325) 254000.
