Earl of Warwick looked far from likely champions when goals from Clive Treby, Ashley Hind and Kevin Hamilton gave opponents Rugby Club a 3-0 lead. The Warwick pulled one back before half time and in a one sided second period added another five to complete a 6-1 victory. Earl of Warwick need just one point to win the title.
Willington Cottles hopes took a knock when they lost 5-2 at Bishop Rugby Club in midweek but they followed this with a win at Wearhead. Cottles opener was cancelled out by a Michael Watson penalty but the visitors added two more for a 3-1 win. Malcolm McWilliams (2) and Anthony Stewart scored. Cottles need to win their last two fixtures to force a play off against Earl of Warwick.
Hathaway Auckland and District League
Cleveland Bridge and Coxhoe met in the final of the Darlington Charity Cup. Cleveland Bridge scored two goals in quick succession and though Coxhoe came back well, Bridge rode their luck to win 3-0. Dwayne Beagle, Wayne Buckley and Ian Raper scored.
Bridge followed with a 3-0 league victory over Spennymoor Quinns Inn. Dwayne Beagle (2) and Jimmy Morris were on target.
Black and Decker beat DSRM 5-0 with Derek Cooper and Paul Harnett scoring twice, Paul Franey grabbed the other. Black and Decker await a Durham FA decision on their Sacriston Aged Miners and Weardale Cup finals both of which are due be played on Monday.
Brandon Station and Coxhoe Athletic face each other four times in 12 days. The first meeting in the Subsidiary Cup saw Brandon win 4-1 with goals from Paul Webster (3) and Paul Eilles.
