THE cost of jubilee events in an east Cleveland town has been given a boost thanks to the National Lottery.
The Lottery's Awards For All scheme has given almost £6,000 to Guisborough Town Pride to help with the cost of two days worth of events at Gisborough Priory.
Guisborough Town Pride's Priory Project chairman Judith Arber received the cheque from television presenter David Bellamy.
The events will take place on Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, in the grounds of the Priory. On the Friday, local school children will participate in a range of activities while the next day will see two further events in the form of a family fun day and an open air concert on the evening.
Guisborough Town Pride is working in partnership with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council to organise these events and is also liaising with Guisborough Town Council, whose jubilee events at Sunnyfield House will run in parallel with the Priory Fun Day.
Music at the concert will be provided by the 1950s big band sounds of Musicians Unlimited and tickets are £5.50 for adults, £3 for concessions and £1 for under-16s and are available from Guisborough and Saltburn Tourist Information Centres.
