Midweek saw Post Boy move within two points of the title as they beat Speedy Hire 5-1. Peter and Paul Robson with two apiece and Andrew Heaviside were their scorers. Darren Thompson replied from the spot.
Greyhounds led old rivals Old Boys 3-0 at half time with goals from Mark Bunker (2) and David Abdale. Steve Bolland pulled one back 15 minutes from time.
In a game of two distinct halves Killinghall Arms scored four times before the interval against Shuttle and Loom through Andy Roberts (2), Danny Hannifin and Jamie Langburn. In the second period Shuttle pulled three back courtesy of a Chris Airey hat-trick.
RA Social kept alive their hopes of at least the runners-up spot as they won 4-2 at Albion. Gary Mitchell got both Albion goals, Gavin Rose (2), Peter Gormley and Andrew Weatherell were RA's marksmen.
On Saturday Post Boy gained the points which saw them crowned league champions for the first time. However, they did not have matters their own way against a resolute Greyhounds who turned in their best performance of the season. Greyhounds took the lead midway through the first half when Doug Fraser headed home a corner. Post Boy equalised ten minutes into the second half but even with a strong wind at their backs it was not until ten minutes from time that a deep cross to the far post for not only a match winner but also a championship securing goal.
Grey Horse were another lowly side to serve up their best performance of the season and they led RA Social through a Darren Tate goal only to be pegged back two minutes from time through substitute Andrew Wedgewood.
Archdeacon could only muster ten men against Shuttle and Loom and found themselves three down after 15 minutes. However, Deacon rallied and playing some excellent football hit both post and bar before Michael Thraves pulled one back. However, Shuttle rounded off their season with a fourth but the victory was tempered by the loss of three points for fielding an unregistered play in Wednesday's fixture.
In a fairly even first half at Abbey Road it was Aycliffe who took their chances to lead 2-0 at the interval. Aycliffe continued to improve in the second half and eventually ran out 4-0 winners.
In a hard fought game at Hundens DSRM SC gained their second point of the season against Speedy Hire. Rollys took the lead through Matty Glenton but Darren Thompson levelled. Sub Stuart Ford restored the lead on 70 minutes but Anthony Weir levelled matters eight minutes from time.
Rothmans restricted East End WMC to a 3-2 lead at the interval, but East End ran riot in the second half scoring five without further reply. John Banks (3), Roy Winter and Mark Maddison (2) and Steve Baldasera were East End's scorers.
Honours were even at Middleton St George as Killinghall Arms went ahead through Kevin Ashton only for Albion to land a real sucker punch and level following a defensive error. Albion were on the back foot for most of the second half, but in the end a draw was the just outcome.
