Arsenal are on course to claim their second double in five seasons after beating Chelsea 2-0 in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
Second half strikes from Ray Parlour and Freddy Ljungberg earned the Gunners their first trophy of the season and they travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday night where a point will be enough to bring the Premiership title back to Highbury.
The first real chance of the game fell to Dennis Bergkamp who was unlucky to see his looping header go just wide of Carlo Cudicini's goal.
Lauren almost broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when he powered a header just over the bar following good work from Sylvain Wiltord.
Frenchman Thierry Henry was denied early in the second half when he stabbed the ball straight at Cudicini from close range.
At the other end Eidur Gudjohnsen called David Seaman into action with a rasping drive which was tipped over by the England 'keeper.
Gianfranco Zola was introduced in the 68th minute in place of the injured Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and just moments later Zola could only watch as Parlour claimed only his second goal of the season with a curling shot from the edge of the area which Cudicini could only help on its way into the top corner.
Ljungberg provided the killer blow to any hopes Chelsea had of getting back into the game when he curled brilliantly past Cudicini following a surging run from the halfway line.
In the Scottish FA Cup final Rangers beat Celtic 3-2 thanks to Peter Lovenkrands' late winner.
