Darlington RA need to win their remaining four fixtures to have any chance of clinching the championship.
Their hopes rescinded when they were held to a 4-4 draw by Harton and Westoe and even assuming they defeat leaders North Shields, their rivals would require just one point from their final game at Boldon CA.
RA, who played 70 minutes with ten men, fell behind when David Hopper bagged a brace for Harton and Westoe but the home side hit back and were ahead at the halfway stage.
Michael Carter struck twice and Stephen Johnson also found the target but it was an uphill struggle with a numerical disadvantage.
Stephen Wilkinson equalised and the visitors were ahead again as Hopper completed his hat-trick.
In the last minute, Mark Radmore levelled but RA have now all but mathematically conceded the championship to North Shields who were without a fixture.
Ferryhill Athletic finish at the bottom even though they drew 4-4 at Boldon CA for whom Colin Thompson hit a hat-trick and Brian Brown also netted.
Stanley United, who have been in basement position for most of the season, signed off when they were involved in one of three results which ended 1-1.
Dean Lee put Annfield Plain in front on 46 minutes but it was no more than Stanley deserved when Ian Lowe levelled on the hour.
Michael Bean had Jarrow ahead for much of their home game with New Marske but the visitors gained a share of the spoils with a goal from Richard Booth.
Cleadon SC were another side denied by a late goal at Whitehaven whose hero was Carl McGrady after Mark Johnson had put the weakened visitors in front.
Despite pressing for much of the second half, Stokesley SC failed to gain reward against Windscale who led with two goals before Richard Hore eventually found their net.
Trevor Hindmarsh and Paul Wilson had Birtley Town comfortably placed when they struck in the first 14 minutes at home to Wolviston and although John Symon pulled a goal back, the visitors failed to profit.
