A CELEBRATION of punk music saw a Darlington first for the world of digital video disc (DVD) recording.
Six German bands, visiting the country as part of a cultural exchange with Mulheim, Darlington's twin town, recorded live on to DVD at Circulation Recordings, Lingfield Point, McMullen Road.
No such service is thought to be available in Germany, and the recording was unique because the music and pictures were put straight on to the DVD RAM cartridge, as opposed to the established method.
Normally, recordings involve putting the sound and vision on to separate master tapes first.
The bands which took part were Die Doedelsaecke, B'San, Linus, Cryptic Flowers, Down and Out and The Head Bangin' Indians.
Graeme Robinson, managing director of the studio, said: "We think this is a first, not only for the region, but possibly the whole of the UK.
