A FEISTY new arrival is turning heads and proving to be a big hit with visitors at a bird of prey centre near Thirsk.
Edwina the year-old cara-cara is the latest attraction at Falconry UK, at Sion Hill Hall - and she is the feathered equivalent of a teenage tearaway.
In their native Falkland Islands, the birds are known as Johnny rooks and are often regarded as a real nuisance.
The younger birds have a tendency to form up in gangs and terrorise the local population - and particularly like to steal fish from the penguins.
However, Edwina was bred by an expert in Belgium and will not be getting the chance to get up to such pranks.
"We are using her for displays inside and out, and she's definitely a feisty bird," said a spokesman yesterday.
