THE seaside holiday village of Staithes now has a prestigious flag flying on its harbourside - the Encams seaside award for having a clean beach.
It is the first time the fishing community has been given the award, made by the former Clean Britain Tidy Group. The award comes as work on a £3m project to protect Staithes, and neighbouring Cowbar, from the North Sea. The work has been carried out by Scarborough and Redcar and Cleveland borough councils
