TWO signed Premier League football club shirts are being auctioned to raise money to send a sick girl to Disneyland in Paris.
Staff at Focus DIY, in Bishop Auckland, have rallied to support their colleague Michelle Tones, whose child Katie-Leigh has been diagnosed with cancer for a second time.
It was thought the three-year-old, from Ennerdale Drive, Crook, had beaten neuroblastoma, but the disease has returned.
Now Focus DIY stores in the North-East are making a big fundraising effort to send the youngster and her family on a trip to Disneyland.
About £5,000 has already been raised after a host of events at stores on Bank Holiday Monday. More events are planned for the coming weeks.
Manager of the Bishop Auckland and Darlington stores, Dave Gray, said staff were devastated when they found out that Katie-Leigh was ill again and they wanted to do what they could to help.
He said: "This has been their idea. We asked for permission from head office and they gave us the go-ahead. People have been really generous. We have these two shirts and staff at the Bishop Office have already started the bidding at £50 each."
Anyone wanting to put a bid in for the shirts by the deadline of 9am on Monday, May 19, is asked to contact the duty manager at Focus DIY in Bishop Auckland, on (01388) 608918.
