A TELECOMMUNICATIONS firm has reassured potential customers that its engineers are coping with increased demand for its services following the collapse of ITV Digital.
Cable operator ntl claims it has not had the same problems experienced by Sky Digital, which has told viewers they face a possible two-month delay to have digital television installed.
Sky Digital has experienced a surge in custom since the collapse of ITV Digital last week, which left 1.2m customers around Britain without the service.
A spokesperson for ntl, which has about 200,000 customers in the North-East and North Yorkshire, said: "We want people to know that although it might take several months to get Sky Digital, we can continue to install ntl within ten days.
"Our engineers are not experiencing the same problems and we are able to cope with the hundreds of calls we are receiving each day.
