DETECTIVES investigating the rape of a North-East woman are to speak to clubbers in an effort to find her attackers.
Police officers will patrol the streets close to where the attack happened, in Askrigg Street, Darlington tonight and tomorrow night in the hope of finding new information.
Detectives will be in Northgate and North Road areas and up towards Askrigg Street. They hope to jog the memories of people who may have been in the area at the time.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian McDonald said: "Detectives will be out on foot and they want to speak to people after a night on the town and see if they can jog people's memories."
Officers have had a disappointing response to appeals for information following the attack on a 21-year-old woman in the early hours of last Sunday. One man held her down while a second man raped her.
Detectives are still trying to trace an old school friend of the victim who walked part of the way home with her from Club 2K nightclub, in Beaumont Street.
She had not seen the friend for 13 years. It has emerged that the pair attended school together at Hexham Road in the Walbottle area of Newcastle, not a school in Northumberland as originally stated.
Anyone with any information on the attack is asked to contact Darlington CID on (01325) 467681 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
