A MAN was jailed for six years for drugs offences at Teesside Crown Court yesterday.
Andrew Bunn, 32, of St Barnabas Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to two charges of supplying class A drugs, crack cocaine and heroin, and one of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. He was arrested in June last year, when he had a quantity of drugs on him and £1,700 in cash.
DRINKS BAN: Drinking at several North Yorkshire beauty spots is to be banned following complaints by residents and police. Scarborough Borough Council is taking action to introduce drinking bans in Prince of Wales Gardens, Plantation Hill, St Nicholas Gardens, Valley Gardens and Crescent Gardens.
LIME SPILL: Firefighters were called to a dales road yesterday after a lorry spilled its load of hydrate lime. Crews were called to the B6277, between Alston and Middleton-in-Teesdale, in Upper Teesdale, County Durham, just after 1pm. No one was injured.
CRASH VICTIM: The identity of a 15-year-old boy who died in a car accident last month has been released. Sam Ritchie, of Queen Street, Birtley, was driving a Vauxhall Astra in Kibblesworth, near Gateshead, on April 13, when there was an accident.
ROAD CLOSED: A section of Shields Road, in Byker, Newcastle, will be closed from 6.30am on Monday. The junction of Shields Road and Heaton Park Road will also be closed. Diversions will be in place during the roadworks, which are expected to last a week.
FIRE INJURY: A man was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, in Durham City, with burns to his hands yesterday, following a kitchen fire at a home in Browning Hill, Coxhoe, near Durham.
FLIGHT OF FANCY: Flights are available from Newcastle Airport to Venice with holidays booked through tour operator Cosmos Tourama. The flights are available on a weekly basis until September 29.
