TWO Darlington children were treated to a day as mayor and mayoress after winning a competition.
Sean Kelly, ten, from Corporation Road Junior School, and Laura Arkle, ten, from Whinfield Junior School, were chosen to be Darlington's Junior Mayor and Mayoress for the day.
The youngsters enjoyed a fun-packed day of activities after winning the competition run by Darlington Borough Council.
They were collected in the mayoral car and taken to the Mayor's Parlour to meet Darlington Mayor Isobel Hartley and Mayoress Lilian Elliott.
They then travelled to Teesside Airport for a tour, and on to Darlington's fire station to meet firefighters and tour the building.
The pair's hectic schedule was interrupted to enjoy a VIP lunch at Walworth Castle Hotel, before they visited Darlington police station and Alpha Radio.
They then had their photographs taken in the Mayor's Parlour, followed by afternoon tea.
