YOUNGSTERS from Aycliffe Young People's Centre have held a sponsored run to help a children's charity.
A total of 27 young people aged between 12 and 17 took part in the run, with five members of staff.
They collected £227 for Whizz Kidz, a charity for disabled children, with one of the secure houses raising £180.
Ian Smith, a programme co-ordinator at the centre, said the children had wanted to do the run after a similar event last year, when nine youngsters raised more than £300.
He said: "We set up a course that covered 100 metres in the sports hall, and the children in each house had to do so many laps on a relay basis, with each runner doing a minimum of two miles."
