The Darlington Supporters Trust is looking to attract a sponsor for it's Farewell To Feethams project.

The project has been organised to commemorate the end of Darlington's 120-year stay at Feethams which will come to and end midway through next season when the club move to Neasham Road.

During the final months of the season just ended the Trust asked photographers from the Darlington Camera Club to capture the matchday atmosphere of Feethams and the best of these pictures will form part of an exhibition this summer.

As well as 40 of the best Feethams photographs, also on display at the exhibition - to take place at the town's Arts Centre starting in July - will be memorabilia, pictures from The Northern Echo archive and written accounts of supporters' memories.

However, financial backing is required for the project and the Trust are hoping to attract a single, private sponsor to cover costs.

A Supporters Trust spokesman said: "The sponsor's name would be associated, and therefore become official sponsors of the Farewell To Feethams project.

"The sponsor's name and logo will be displayed at the exhibition, all posters used in publicity and in a prominent position on the Supporters Trust website.

"We believe, as fans, we are demonstrating a positive attitude by attempting to improve the club and the town's profile through this joint community project."

As well as an overall sponsor, the Trust is also inviting people to sponsor individual photographs at the exhibition - with the sponsors' dedications appearing prominently on the photo mounts.

The Trust has already accepted a £1,500 lottery award from Northern Arts and some supporters have already pledged to individually sponsor around half of the photographs, but are now looking for a main exhibition sponsor.

* Former Darlington defender Steve Tutill has retired from football after failing to recover from a long term achilles injury.

The 32-year-old left Feethams in 2000 as one of several players to depart the club that summer following the club's play-off defeat to Peterborough at Wembley.

He made 77 Darlington appearances after joining from York City in 1998 but after just 17 games for Chesterfield, Tutill damaged his left achilles in his last appearance for the club in December 2000.

* Hartlepool striker Gordon Watson yesterday extended his stay at the club by signing a new 12 month deal at Victoria Park.
