A SIGNPOST to tell drivers visiting Darlington where they can park is being proposed.
The sign, on one of the main roads into the town, would tell drivers when there are spaces available in five of the town's car parks.
A Darlington Borough Council spokesman said: "The benefits of variable message signing are that it directs motorists straight to the car parks that have spaces available and will help reduce traffic movement and congestion in the town centre."
The cost of the scheme would be £160,000 over two years.
Council members will vote on the idea next week.
