FOUR people from County Durham appeared in court yesterday facing drug charges after a series of police raids on Thursday.
Peter Alfred Shutt, 32, of Holly Hill, Shildon, was accused of possession with intent to supply heroin.
Michael Robert Jardine, 27, of Wesley Street, Coundon Grange, and Elaine Griffiths, 39, of Albert Street, Shildon, face charges of being concerned with the supply of heroin.
Michael Verrell, 24, of Rockingham Street, Darlington, also faced charges relating to the supply of heroin.
They were remanded in custody to appear before Newton Aycliffe magistrates on Friday, May 17.
A fifth person, a 16 year-old boy, was also arrested during the raids, but has since been released on police bail.
Detective Inspector Stuart Robson, of Newton Aycliffe CID, last night confirmed that three more men, from Shildon and Newton Aycliffe, had been arrested in connection with drugs offences.
