FARMERS' wives who bared almost all for a risque calendar are celebrating after it raised thousands of pounds.
Women from across the region added a touch of glamour to the traditional image of rural life last year in a bid to counter the devastating effects of the foot-and-mouth crisis.
The huge demand for copies of the calendar, produced by the Northern Counties branch of the Women's Farmers' Union, has so far raised £14,000.
The money will be distributed throughout Yorkshire, helping businesses affected by the epidemic to get back on their feet.
One of North Yorkshire's rookie models, Yvonne Scales, who helped organise the initiative, said yesterday: "The countryside and farming community have been absolutely brilliant and supported us all the way. We are really pleased with the amount."
