A MAN who hit the headlines when he was bailed to live in his three-wheeled van was behind bars last night.
Last month, magistrates told Neil Savage, 30, who faces drugs and theft offences, he must not leave the van in Hogarth Drive, Columbia, Washington, Wearside, between the hours of 9pm and 7am.
But yesterday he was remanded in custody after Houghton-le-Spring Magistrates' Court heard he had since been accused of burglary. It is alleged he broke into his sister Lillian Harris's home and tried to steal £30 from her child's piggy bank.
He will return to Houghton-le-Spring Magistrates' Court on May 16 to answer the new charge of burglary and other charges of theft from a motor vehicle, possessing a class C drug, breaching a community rehabilitation order, going equipped for theft and possessing an offensive weapon.
