A SCHOOL has been given permission by the North York Moors National Park Authority to build a classroom block.
The private Village College, part of the Camphill community at Botton Village near Danby, wants to provide two classrooms, a tutorial room and storage.
Danby Parish Council objected to the plan saying the school takes pupils who might otherwise attend the two village schools, which are suffering from falling numbers and so, financially, find it difficult to get their buildings improved.
The college told planning officers that the school's buildings too cramped for its 73 pupils, a third of its pupils were too old for the village schools and it did not target the area for pupils.
The planning officers' recommendation for approval was agreed.
