NURSERY school children have been learning about new life with the help of some fluffy chicks.
Children aged three and four at Albert Hill Nursery School, Darlington, have watched 12 chicks hatch from their eggs this week.
The eggs were lent to the school by a local man with a smallholding and have been kept in an incubator until they were ready to hatch.
Teacher Jackie Stone said: "It has been really lovely watching the children's delight at the new chicks.
"We went home one night and there were eggs in the incubator, and we came in the next morning and there were chicks sitting there.
"The children couldn't believe it. They have been looking forward to them hatching for weeks."
The chicks were part of a project about new life at the school, and the children have learned about different types of eggs.
