DRIVING ace Paul Swift is in with a chance of scooping his first senior title after a run of good results in the British Auto Test Championships.
The 22-year-old son of Darlington stunt driver Russ Swift has already taken the junior crown and competed for England against teams from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
But after switching classes to Mini Specials last year, he is running a close second to David Mosey in the national competition, which moves on to courses in Maidstone, in Kent, and Hatfield, in London, on the weekend of May 25 and 26.
"I have had a run of two thirds and three second places so far this year, and it is definitely consistency which is making the difference," said Paul, after arriving home from the latest round of the championship in Nuneaton.
"It has been exciting getting closer and closer to David, and it looks like the rest of the season is going to be pretty interesting."
