AN amateur dramatic company is taking to the stage this week with a 1950s drama.
Deep Blue Sea, by Terence Rattigan, opened at the Royalty Theatre, in Sunderland's Chester Road area, yesterday.
Martin Wallwork, of the Royalty company, said: "It centres around the dilemma of a married women unhappy with her marriage who is tempted to fall for another man, a former RAF fighter pilot.
"It is the sort of middle class drama from the 1950s that audiences would have found shocking.
"Obviously the reaction it gets from the audiences in this age is different, but it provides a fascinating glimpse of post-war Britain.''
The play runs until Saturday and performances start at 7.30pm. For tickets call 0191-565 7945.
