A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy was last night recovering after being knocked off his bicycle and left lying in the road by a hit-and-run motorcyclist.
Callum Lewis, who had been cycling in his street when he was hit, was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary with a fractured skull and cuts and bruises to his right eye and ear.
His father, Gavin Lewis, 34, of High Heaton, Newcastle, was sitting in his front garden when he noticed Callum lying in the road further down the street.
He ran over to his son and carried him back to the house, from where his wife, Ellen, 31, called an ambulance.
Callum, who is in reception class at Ravenswood Primary School, Newcastle, was cycling with brother Jordan eight, on Sunday afternoon.
Police have arrested and questioned a man. He was released on police bail pending further inquiries.
