A VOLUNTARY group which gives vulnerable members of the community the chance to get involved with major arts projects has been rewarded for its work.
Rural Arts North Yorkshire (Rany), based in Thirsk, was given an Ovation Award for its work in opening up new opportunities to people who have limited access to activities such as theatre, photography and film-making. The accolade was handed out by the Creative Industries Development Agency to Angela Hayward, one of the group's chief volunteers.
She said: "Rany has achieved a structural redevelopment over the past year which will enable us to reach more people in more places across the region. This award really helps to recognise this achievement and I'm thrilled to receive it on behalf of everyone at Rany.
