A GROUP of soldiers is looking for volunteers to join them in a charity abseil today. The 34 (Northern) Signal Regiment of the Territorial Army will descend from Holy Trinity Church tower in North Ormesby, Middlesbrough, between 1pm and 4pm. It costs £5 to take part and proceeds will go to the church's Trinity Centre and the Army Benevolent Fund.
Participants, who must be over the age of 13, are asked to wear warm clothing and sensible shoes.
TEA DANCE: Redcar Ladies Lifeboat Guild will hold a jubilee celebration tea dance at 2pm on Wednesday, in the United Reformed Church Hall, Station Road, Redcar. Tickets priced £2 are available from the Central Library, in Coatham Road.
CHILDREN'S SESSIONS: Southlands Leisure Centre, in Ormesby Road, Middlesbrough, offers Tumble Time sessions every Monday and Thursday between 1pm and 3pm, for children under the age of five. ROAD CLOSED: France Street, in Redcar, will be closed for five weeks to allow for a bus lane to be built as part of the £26m Regent Walk shopping development.
MUSIC TALK: Ralph Williams will be the speaker when Guisborough Recorded Music Society meets in the Evangelical Church, Fountain Street, tomorrow at 7.30pm.
