CHILDREN across the region will get a better start in life, thanks to nine projects to be set up under a Government programme.
Public Health Minister Yvette Cooper unveiled the sixth series of Sure Start projects, which support the physical, intellectual and emotional development of children.
Each of nine areas in the North-East will benefit from a new project, taking the total in Newcastle and Sunderland to seven each, five in each of Middlesbrough, South Tyneside and Stockton, and two each in Blyth Valley, Derwentside and Sedgefield.
