JARS of organic baby food have been recalled from supermarket shelves after a woman almost fed a shard of glass to her grandson.
The inch-long piece of glass was spotted on the spoon an instant before it was put into eight-month-old Samuel's mouth.
Now, Baby Organix has warned mothers to return jars of its vegetable and coconut korma with the batch code JAN 2004 2030.
Samuel's mother, Angela Briggs, of Bishopthorpe, York, bought the jar from a Tesco supermarket in the city.
She said: "My mother-in-law was feeding Samuel and emptied the jar into the bowl. When it was on the spoon, she realised it looked lumpier than usual.
"She had already given him a few spoonfuls and was quite horrified that she nearly fed the glass to him. I was just shocked that it was in his food."
Samuel was not hurt in the incident, which happened last Wednesday afternoon.
Managing director of Dorset's Baby Organix, Lizzie Vann, said the company had collected the jar and shard and sent it to an independent laboratory for tests.
"As a precautionary measure, we have removed all relevant stock from supermarket shelves.
"We are asking parents to return any 190-gram jar of vegetable and coconut korma, with a batch code JAN 2004 2030, to the store they bought it from," she said.
A Tesco spokeswoman said: "We have not received any other complaints."
