A TEAM of chemistry students from a North-East college have won the regional heat of a national competition.
The youngsters, who attend Prior Pursglove College, in Guisborough, east Cleveland, won the local heat of the Royal Society of Chemistry National Schools Analyst Competition.
At the University of Teesside, David Hill, Stephen Harrap and Chris Kell pitted their skills against five teams from across the region.
David said: "It was quite nerve-wracking not knowing what was facing us and having to use equipment we had never seen before, such as a flame photometer."
Yesterday, the students were presented with their certificates and prizes by Leila Elliott, from Teesside Chemical Initiative, and Dr Joe McGinnis, from Teesside University.
