MANAGERS at Richmondshire's Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB) have confirmed that volunteers will be dedicating three hours to telephone inquiries.
The demands of a busy office have meant staff have sometimes found it difficult to deal with incoming calls during normal office hours.
Priority has always been given to people who have requested face-to-face consultations and, with volunteer numbers limited, there has not always been anyone spare to answer the phone.
However, the bureau is hoping to overcome the problem by setting aside Wednesday mornings for phone inquiries, particularly from those who live in outlying areas or who find it difficult to travel.
"It is certainly a service we have had to introduce to meet demand," said spokesman Simon Farquhar.
"However, it would also be a great help if we could recruit some more volunteers, and we would very much welcome hearing from anyone who would like to be considered."
Anyone interested in helping out can call (01748) 823862.
Those who would like advice over the phone should call Richmondshire CAB between 10pm and 1pm on Wednesdays on (01748) 823978.
