A BOOK celebrating what matters most to people in Sunderland will be launched this week.
Poet Julie Ward and cartoonist Suzy Varty were asked to find out what Wearsiders were passionate about, as part of the project Loves of My Life - Visions and Voices from Sunderland.
They worked with people in youth clubs, day centres, colleges and health centres, encouraging them to record what mattered to them most in words and pictures. Among the things that emerged were football, friends and family, fish and chips and even ironing.
The result - almost 200 poems and cartoons celebrating Sunderland passions, will be launched tomorrow, at 6pm in Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens and will be available in shops and libraries.
From then on, the book will be on sale in libraries and book shops throughout the city, along with a set of four postcards to complement it.
