MIDDLESBROUGH star Jonathan Greening has had to put his stag night on hold after receiving an 11th-hour England Under-21 call-up.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who was drafted in as a last-minute replacement for the injured Michael Carrick, will marry fiance Anna on June 8.
And Greening has had to leave all the wedding arrangements firmly in the hands of his future wife while he bids for European Championship glory with David Platt's squad.
He said: "I think she was pleased that I'd been called up at a late stage. She's got to sort everything out, and that leaves me free.
"There's quite a lot of things to do, but obviously you don't mind leaving it to the Mrs, do you?"
England take on Switzerland in the opening game of the tournament on Friday night and Greening, who trained for the first time with the squad yesterday at the Trainingplatz Bachgraben in Allschwil, is delighted to have been called up.
The £2m capture from Manchester United last summer played in Boro's final Premiership game at Leeds on Saturday to bring to an end a mixed campaign.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson did not want the former York man to leave Old Trafford, but Greening believes he made the right decision to move to the Riverside.
He has been a first-team regular for Steve McClaren's side during a season that also had its disappointments.
''Sir Alex said he wanted me to stay and there were a few heated words, but I'm really glad I've gone there,'' said Greening, who missed the FA Cup semi-final with a hamstring injury. ''It's the best decision I've ever made, I think.
''I've played 43 times and trebled my tally of games. I was devastated to be injured for the semi-final. I think I'd played 40 games without getting injured and then I got injured on the Tuesday in training.
''That was a nightmare, but this call-up has made up for it.''
Boro target Muzzy Izzet is keen to resurrect a move to Boro, according to the player's agent Jonathan Barnett.
Leicester are willing to allow the Turkish international to leave for a £6m fee after the 27-year-old turned down a move to the Riverside during the season.
However, with the Foxes now condemned to life in the First Division, Izzet is understood to be happy to complete a deal.
Barnett said: "Muzzy has always said he would be happy with a move to Middlesbrough and at the end of the season he would talk.
"It is up to Middlesbrough to resurrect the deal."
There has been no developments on either Paul Ince or Robbie Mustoe's contract talks.
Both players, out of contract in June, are still in talks with the club about extending their stay.
And a club spokesman said: "The situation remains unchanged."
Meanwhile, Boro will be mailing out renewal forms to their 22,000 season ticket holders from tomorrow and providing details of season tickets for the 2002-03 campaign.
Although the club is keeping details of season ticket prices a closely guarded secret until Friday, they believe they will be well received by Boro supporters.
* The Football Association last night overturned Fulham's £30,000 fine for alleged disorderly conduct in the 21-man brawl in a Premiership match against Everton on December 8.
The governing body's appeals board overturned the March 5 decision of their disciplinary commission to remove the Cottagers' fine and warning about their future conduct from the records.
