A NURSERY has been transformed into a jungle as part of a project to teach pupils about animals.
Children at Trimdon Grange Infant School and Nursery have built the jungle with the help of parents and staff, over the last few days.
Headteacher Catherine Worton said: "We have got a large nursery department and the children have been studying animals.
"They have spent some time on animals in different climatic areas - cold climates and deserts - and over the past fortnight they have been studying animals in the jungle.
"The children wanted to make a real jungle to play in and they have done it with green curtains, paper leaves, sand, a water feature and bark chippings on the floor. It sounds, smells and looks like a jungle."
The children have also brought in toy animals to populate their jungle.
Mrs Worton said: "It has been a lovely community project, with parents involved as well as children."
