A SCHOOL has received a national award recognising the quality of its working relationship with members of the community.
Rossmere School in Hartlepool has received the honour from the Schools' Curriculum Award.
In order to win the award the school had to detail all the activities it organised with various sections of our community.
This included things such as the family literacy project with parents and grandparents, the personal safety programme with the local community police, and the arts programme, which forms part of the town's annual arts festival.
Lisa Biggin, headteacher, said: "When the assessors came we had so many visitors to share examples of the ways in which they support our school, helping to make it an even more successful and stimulating learning environment.
"We are grateful to so many people, parents, governors and staff who gave their time to benefit us all."
The school has now been invited to send two pupils and two teachers to the official celebration of their achievement, which takes place on Tuesday, June 11, at the Tate Modern Gallery, London.
They will be presented with their certificate by the Duke of Gloucester.
