The region's top players were in action at Warwick a fortnight ago.
To be screened by Sky TV from quarter final stage, Steve Woodier and Stuart Green met each other in the last 64.
After Green came through two qualifying rounds defeating Barry Hawkes 8-0 then Darren Hope 8-6 after trailing 5-1, to set up a local match with Woodier.
Woodier started very well, leading the match 3-0 then 6-1 with Green hitting three excellent clearances to make the score 6-4. But Woodier hit two clearances in the next two frames to come out the 8-4 winner in the last 32. In the last 32 Woodier was up against Andy Cross and never got a chance to play in his match as Cross went on clearing the table frame after frame to run out an impressive 8-1 winner.
Tour Event Three
Two players reached the last 32 of the main tour - Steve Woodier and Stuart Green. Woodier came through to the last 32 with wins over John Strange after trailing 3-0, then in the last 64 Steve had a tough match with Stephen Munto, with Woodier trailing 6-3. Munro only needing one frame for victory. Woodier went on a roll hitting three clearances to draw level at 6-6 and in the last frame Woodier had a break and cleared the table from the break for a 7-6 win. The last 32 Woodier was up against Paul Dunkley and again was trailing 3-1, then 6-3. Woodier again fought back to level the match at 6-6 but ion the last frame Dunkey had a break and left the white ball hanging in the jaws of the pocket and then went on to clear the table for a 7-6 victory to Dunkey. Stuart Green came through with a 7-4 win over E Ribero then had his best result of the weekend when he came up against Andy Cross. In the first round Green with his excellent potting ability shocked Cross taking a 5-1 lead cross came back to 5-3 but Green went on to win the match 7-5. In the last 64 Green defeated the club open winner Paul Elliott 7-4 to play Shane Appleton in the last 32 with Appleton coming out a 7-2 winner. In the preliminary round Tony Short was defeated 7-4 by Alex Legget and Paul Lynch was also defeated 7-3 by Stephen Heenan. In the first round Gary Nicholson had a tough match against former world champion Jason Twist with twist running out a 7-1 winner. Peter Allison had a very good chance of defeating Partab Singh, Peter lead the match 5-3 and then 6-5 but Partab came back to win the last two frames for a 7-6 win.
Mick Hill again the winner of the main tour Mick showing his dominance this year on the tour this is Mick's third consecutive tour win having won the two before Mick defeated Ronan McCarthy in the final 8-3.
Professional Challenge
The region's only professional Steve Woodier was defeated in the last 32 after coming out a 8-4 winner in the last 64 against Dave Preece. Woodier was trailing the match 4-1 then rattled in the next seven frames to win the match. But came up against an in form Brian Halcrow with Brian running out an 8-2 winner.
Club Open
Tony Short fared the best in the club open reaching the quarter finals. Tony had a 4-3 win over Dave Hughes in the last 64, the defeated Jeremy Maddern 4-3 in the last 16 Tony was a 4-2 winner over Gary Brown but in the quarters was defeated 4-2 by Tony Vickers.
Paul Lynch reached the last 32 with wins over Luke Gibson 4-1 and was defeated by Andy Herriott 4-2.
Peter Allison went out in the last 64 losing to the eventual winner Paul Elliot 4-2. Gary Nicholson lost to John Auchterlonie 4-2. Stuart Green won his preliminary round 4-3 over Andy Jones but in the last 64 4-1 to Gary Southern. Paul Elliot defeated Dave Preece in the finals 5-4.
Yarm and District League
The last week of the league produced an outstanding result for Oddfellows who defeated Beckfield B 4-3 at home. Wins from P Anthony, G Bainbridge, T Harrison and star of the match Leanne Whitelock secured the victory. With the game at 3-3, Whitelock kept her cool to take the last frame and the match for Oddfellows. The Eaglescliffe A had a hard battle at home against Eagle just coming out 4-3 winners.
The Yorkshire Dragoon B lost the first four frame to go 4-0 down but with a good fightback from I Cameron, E Cameron and L Musin they won the last three frames to make the score more respectable for Yorkshire Dragoon B - 4-3.
Champions the Eaglescliffe Bar took on the third place Griffin away and came back with a hard fought 4-1 win. Griffin took the first frame through P Roddam defeating B Good. The second frame went to Eaglescliffe Bar, A Foster getting the better of Dean Hardy for 1-1. P Keane made it 2-1 to Eagles with a win over C Mathews. John Blackburn levelled again with a win over I Wells for 2-2. A Woodier was outstanding to defeat M Laine to put the Eagles 3-2 up. Then C Hill levelled again defeating I Moran. In the last frame captain Trev Moran of the Eagles took control of the frame playing some great shots to win and match for Eaglescliffe Bar 4-3.
Meanwhile, bottom of the table the Layfield B lost 4-3 to Queen Vi B. Blue Bell came out 4-3 winners away at the Beckfields A. Queen Vic A put in a great win beating the Yorkshire Dragoon A 6-1. The Jockers also gained a 7-0 win due to the Layfield A not having any players on the night.

Redcar and District League
Division One
The Hydro B have taken over the top of the division after their latest win at home to Kingfisher. T Adamson, R Morley, K Abrahamson, M Davis, I Moylan and man of the match Cameron McCormack who won on his debut, put Hydro 6-0 up.
The Kingey won the first doubles but the Hydro won the next two to win 8-1. Vals C were at home to the West 2 B and went 2-0 up with good wins from L Joel and G Parker, J Hems pulled one back but M Watson made it 3-1. S Harker and R Bertram then made it level at 3-3. Vals won 2-3 doubles for a close 5-4 win.
Other results: Rugby Club 7, Gate 2; Cleveland A 5, Clarey 4; Coble A 1, Bookies 8; Fairway A 7, Vals B 7; Vals A 1, Lass 8.
Division Two
The George were at home to Cleveland C and went 1-0 up through Gary Cook, A Hartshorn and C Evans made it 2-1. D Stange made it 2-2, N Barley then played an excellent game to win on his debut to make it 3-2 to the Cleveland. D Evans than played a good game to beat R Morley to make it 3-3. Cleveland then won 2-3 doubles to win 5-4. The Lobster and the Hydro fought out a hard game with K Horne, G Colin, R Turner and G Davis winning for Hydro and R O'Hagen and P Allen making it 4-2. The Lobster came back to win all three doubles to win the match 5-4.
Top teams NMSC were away to the Clarey B, leading score J Whyman was up against last year's top scorer G Hearfield in a long game. Geoff came out on top to inflict J Whyman's first defeat of the season. C Cory then made it 1-1. NMSC then went on a roll with N Bailes, P Buckton, G Brayfield and A Day making it 5-1. Sporty then won 2-3 doubles for a good 7-2 win.

Durham County Super League
IAycliffe derby it was the A team who just came out on top winning the match 8-6 on the final frame. Winners for the A team were with two wins Dave Bromley and Andrew Tuesday, one win each for Johnny Mason, Christopher Mason, Eddie Mackay and Steve Bainbridge. The B team had two wins from Gary Parker and one win each from Carl Little, Paul Wade, Richie Bellwood and Ross Killip.
Durham A visited Bishop Auckland and came away with a good 8-6 win. Winners fo Durham with two wins were Paul Shutt, Barry Dowson and Lee Holdsworth, one win each for Dave Neill and Ben Bowen. Bishop replied with two wins from Warren Stamp and Mal Parry, one win each for Ron Wright and Dave Jacomb.
Crook A also won 8-6 on their visit to Ferryhill.
Crook B played host to Consett and the visitors went down 9-5.
Durham Ranking Tournament
The top 32 players in the rankings qualify for the big money end of year competition held at Durham Snooker Club.
