Normanby Parklands and Loftus were involved in a high scoring drawn game when the sides met in division one. Batting first Loftus made 185 for the loss of one wickets before declaring after 43.2 overs. The runs flowed from Martin Pearson who had eight boundaries in an unbeaten 66, Sanderson (52) and Ian Dixon who hammered a fine undefeated 51 from just 25 deliveries. Replying Normanby Parklands finished with 155 for six with Arif Ramzan unbeaten on 74. Danny Watchman contributed 37 and for Loftus Jeff Morrison sent down 20 overs, six of them maidens, in claiming four wickets for 54 runs.
Ormesby Hall just edged Norton by three runs. Making first use of the wicket Ormesby Hall ended on 135 all out which included a half-century by Trotter while for Norton Watson took four for 13 and Hirst four for 33.
In reply Norton made a good start through a third wicket partnership between Brooks (34) and Pritchard (35), but when Davies captured seven wickets for only 35 runs, the innings ended on 132.
Paragonians had 45 runs in hand of Skelton Castle after scoring 137 when they batted first. Berton scored 42 and both Skilbeck and Hughes added 28 while for Skelton Castle Hoggarth returned five for 26 and Gratton three for ten.When they went into bat Skelton Castle found runs difficult to score and were all out for 92 with Hughes returning six for 33.
Hinderwell defeated Hatfield Sports and Social Club by 74 runs. Duell was only two runs short of a half-century when Hinderwell realised 156 all out with Hadfield capturing six for 39 and Dawson three for 50.
When the home side replied they could only muster 82 as Marsey picked up five wickets for a meagre 21 runs.
Dormans managed only 97 at the Merlin and 39 of the runs came from opener Grosvenor. Mullen (4-20) and Burdon (3-49) were in top form and Moss took two for 26 for The Merlin who finished seven wickets winners as opening batsman Sutherland carried his bat for 50.
Staithes totalled 168 and skittled out Boosbeck for just 32. Allen (34) and Elland (59) were the principal contributors to the Staithes innings and for Boosbeck Ward claimed three wickets for 32 runs. When they replied, however, Boosbeck were quickly in trouble as Sayers took four wickets for 12 runs, Theaker two for 15 and Allen, introduced as first change, captured four wickets for a single run. In division two Normanby Parklands also struggled for runs and battled through 31.3 overs making just 54 all out. Incredibly, two players scored 42 of the runs between them with Lilley making 20 and Plunkett 22 not out.
Neil Broughton sent down ten overs, half of them maidens and claimed three wickets for seven runs while T Whitwell, G Whitwell and M Broughton shared the other five wickets to fall to bowlers. Brotton needed 14.5 overs reaching a winning score of 55 for three as Ian Ridley scored 20 and Brian Ward 22 not out.
Moorsholm comfortably defeated Skelton Castle after posting 134 for six which included 65 not out from Hardy.
McCabe returned three for 23 in the Skelton Castle attack and responding the home side were all out for 50 as Ward took five for 24 and Allison five for 19.
Ormesby Hall and Cowpen Bewley drew their game. Matthewman scored 43 before being run out and Ormesby Hall went on to realise 123 for nine with Carr, Mannings and Jenkins sharing seven wickets. Cowpen Bewley could only managed 109 for nine as Roberts picked up five wickets for 34 runs.
Loftus defeated Blacksmiths Arms by four wickets. When they made first use of the wicket Blacksmith Arms scored 38 for six with Barker scoring 42 and King 25. Loftus went on to win losing six wickets as Tyreman added 37 and Shaw carried his bat for a valuable 44.
Readers Durham County League Under-18
Harry Collingwood claimed a hat-trick when Tudhoe defeated Willington by 36 runs. Faced with a target of 101 Willington were all out for 64 as Collingwood finished with four for seven in four overs. Chris Glasper had two for nine and Tim Smalley two for 30, the pair each bowling five overs and David Curry gave support with two for ten from four overs. Evans top scored with 22 for Willington. When Tudhoe batted first they finished with 100 for four and David Curry top scored with 24 while for Willington Evans claimed three wickets for 17 runs.
Hunwick had the better of Crook Town by 31 runs. Pratt was their top scorer hitting three boundaries in 47 out of a total of 114 four four. Michael Cooper returned two for 24 from three overs and Michael Fawcett two for 18 in five overs for Crook Town who in reply were restricted to 83 for five. Mark Bowey batted well for Crook recording 34 and for Hunwick Pratt had two for 21 from five overs and Richardson two for 13 in his two overs spell.
Langley Park defeated Ushaw Moor without conceding a wicket. The wickets managed 42 for six as Daniel Wilkinson captured three for eight in four overs. And made an unbeaten 21 out of Langley's 43 for none.
