STUDENTS at Hurworth School are showing off their talents in a display of GCSE art work
Parents are being asked to pick 12 works of art to appear in a calendar.
More than 500 works of art by year 11 students were on display at the school on Wednesday. Parents, governors and friends of the school were invited to vote for their favourite pictures, and the 12 winners will be printed in a 2003 calendar.
In addition, winning artists will be presented with £10 prizes, donated by the Art Shop in Bondgate, Darlington.
The parent-teacher association hopes to sell 500 copies of the calendar, which has been an annual fundraising feature since 1991.
Calendars are sold for £3 each in the school and local shops. Last year, a profit of £200 was made and organisers are keen to repeat their success.
Teacher Rita Rees said: "The GCSE art on display is very impressive.
"Each child has up to 12 works on display, so this is a very large exhibition.
