PUPILS from a Darlington school enjoyed a royal evening to mark the Queen's golden jubilee.
The group of eight and nine-year-olds from Polam Hall School, in Grange Road, organised the evening and invited parents and friends to join in.
The event was timed to coincide with the Queen's visit to the town on her golden jubilee tour last week.
During the past few weeks, year four pupils had been preparing for the royal visit and had studied historical events during the Queen's reign.
The Queen passed the school on her way out of the town when she visited last Wednesday, and the pupils lined the route.
The pupils and some of their parents also wore red, white and blue clothing to add an extra touch of patriotism to the event.
Angela Foster, headteacher of the junior school at Polam Hall, said: "The royal evening was an excellent way to round off the Queen's jubilee visit.
"The night was a tremendous success and we all had fun finding out how much we know about the royal family.
