TWO new mayors have been elected to serve in east Cleveland.
Saltburn, Marske and New Marske Parish Council has appointed Councillor Sue McLeod, from Marske, to take the chains of office from Saltburn councillor Jim Wingham.
Coun McLeod will have her eldest son Matthew, 18, as her escort.
Councillor Gordon Davis, from Easington, has been selected as the mayor for Loftus Town Council, taking over from Councillor Christine Swales, from Liverton Mines.
Coun Davis, who will be accompanied by his wife Ann on official visits, is a retired ambulance officer and former secretary of Loftus West Road Social Club and Carlin How Workingmen's Club. He is a churchwarden at All Saints' Church, Easington.
In the past few months, he has been involved in arrangements to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee and the charities for his civic year will include Woodside Surgery and St John Ambulance.
He presented a shield to Coun Swales and paid tribute by calling her a "wonderful mayor" who attended plenty of functions and raised funds for cerebral palsy charities.
"I hope I will be able to serve the community and council as well as she did. I am sure that I will be able to rely on her help and advice in the forthcoming year," he said.
