A TEDDY bear shop is offering a local person the chance to perform its official opening.
Bear Bottoms, which has just relocated to new premises further up Elvet Bridge, Durham, is holding a double celebration to mark the move and its third birthday.
The guest of honour will be the winner of a competition to cut the ribbon to the new shop.
As part of their prize, they will be picked up by a limousine and presented with a collector's bear worth between £100 and £200.
Bear Bottoms owner, Joanne McDonald, said: "We are planning to have a party all day for the official opening, on July 20, and we will be giving away free gifts.
"We wanted to choose someone local to perform the opening and treat them like a VIP."
People of all ages are invited to enter the competition by answering the following five questions:
* How old is the teddy bear?
* Where does the teddy bear get its name from?
* Which birthday is the shop celebrating?
*l Name one literary bear
*l Which company made the first teddy bear?
Answers should be sent to Bear Bottoms, 12 Elvet Bridge, Durham, DH1 3AA by July 13
