Simonside SC were hammered 9-0 at home to Whitehill. In only four minutes Gary Robson received a ball from Ross Robson to chip the ball over the keeper.
Two minutes later Andrew Smith took a quick throw in to Ross Robson who went on to hit number two. Simonside had a chance to reduce the arrears after 10 minutes, but David Stephenson cleared off the line from a shot by Michael Ord. Danny O'Brien made it 3-0 to Whitehill in 32 minutes. Gary Robson made it 4-0 before half time when he received a through ball from Mark Brown to beat the keeper. After the break Michael Pitt went on a goal spree hitting his first in 47 minutes, his second in 55 minutes, completed his hat trick after 65 minutes then added another two in 70 and 73 minutes.
Washington Westwood held Belford House to a 1-1 draw at home. This left Belford looking to be second in the league as they had to win their last four games for a chance to win the league. This has now gone to Hartlepool Boys Welfare. Paul Diamond had Westwood in the lead in 40 minutes. After the break Belford was level on 60 minutes with an own goal from Westwood.
Hartlepool Boys Welfare beat Seaham The Duke 2-1 at home to confirm them as league champions. Srewart Cooper had them in the lead in 30 minutes. Paul Doughety gave them a 2-0 lead in 60 minutes. The Duke pulled a goal back in 85 minutes with a 35 yard free kick, but never looked like getting another in the closing minutes of the game.
* The Management Committee of the Durham Alliance held their last meeting on Tuesday May 7 before the AGM to be held in the Stella Maris Social Club on the 28th May. The main item on the agenda was to discuss the formation and new applications for the 2002-03 season. Five new applications from the Hathaway Auckland and District League attended, Brandon Station, Coxhoe Athletic, Cockfield, Shildon Railway Athletic and Spennymoor Black and Decker. Members of the management committee were impressed with what the clubs had to offer and have agreed to recommend all the clubs be accepted to he league.

Wednesday results: Belford House FC 4, Washington Westwood 1; Boys Welfare 3, Birtley St Josephs 0.
