Durham and Cleveland SRA
Two extremely evergreen veterans Faith Sinclair and David Lumsdon were honoured yet again by the County squash for continued loyalty and top level performances.
Each took national titles at the recent English championships. Mrs Sinclair, from Shincliffe, captured the Over 45 title to add to her Over 50 crown of last season. She has now provided more then 30 years of service to Durham and Cleveland an player and coach.
Mr Lumsdson retained his national Over 50 title recently and has represented the county well over 300 times in a playing careerr of 28 years. He is still in the senior team, even at age 52, and has his son Gareth as a team member!
He helped his new club Sedgefleld to fourth place in the Whitfield's League first division this season.
Sometime Teessider, Yawar Abbas, was awarded the Peart Trophy for county play. He had one very special moment In a win against Andy Whipp, the English number 38, in the stage one fixture with Cheshire. He also took the county senior title.
This was for the ninth time since his first success In 1988.
He to currently a resident in Greater Manchester in his role an the co-ordinator of squash for the Commonwealth Games.
Jacky Gardner from Redcar received the Smith Cup for ladies county play; with a special performance in the Merseyside match over higher ranked Chris Smylie.
She had also taken the runners-up spot at Over 40 in the national championships: and has been an English International for three years.
Micaela Harris from Darlington was selected as Ladies Player of the Year. She was top performer of the season with 156 points from 12 matches, not even losing one set throughout, and was a mainstay of the successful Darlington firsts.
