At a recent ceremony at Darlington's Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, more than 70 young sportsmen and women were honoured for their achievements in a wide range of sporting events.
Sixteen students received Community Sports Leadership Awards and a similar number had their achievements competing at County level or above publicly recognised.
The College's Football C Team, who won the Eric Bell Memorial Trophy, and the Girls' Medley Relay Swimming Team, who won the bronze medal in the national championships, took centre stage.
However, the key awards went to:
David Jones - The Chris Hope Memorial Trophy for Services to Rugby
Alastair Logan - Services to Sport, for his work in the community and his good all-round sports achievement
Angie Winstanley-Smith - Lewis Gordon Trophy, for outstanding achievement. Angie has represented England in both swimming and water-polo, and she has overcome illness and injury to do this.
College Players of the Year were also paid tribute. They were:
Basketball: Stuart McKie
Football (A Team): Tom Ptak
Football (B Team): Liam Lindley
Football (C Team): Paul Metcalfe/Anthony Pepper
Football (D Team): Richard Snowdon
Hockey (Female): Sam Neate

Netball: Gemma Saunders
Rugby: Ashley Robinson
John Beilby, Head of Sport at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, said: "Once more the students of the College have excelled in a wide range of activities and the awards ceremony was all about acknowledging their achievements. It was also pleasing to see a good number completing coaching awards, which reflects their commitment to Sport."
